I am Associate Professor in Mathematics. This means that most of my time is spent between research, teaching, and helping everyone enjoy maths. In collaboration with colleagues, students and technology partners, I develop and deploy numeracy training support to students and staff in our university, companies, and the general public.

I am a firm believer of internationalization in Higher Education and I coordinate the Turing and Erasmus+ schemes for Mathematics, Computing and Engineering.

I hold BSc (2006), MSc (2007) Mathematics from UBB Cluj (Romania), PhD in Applied Mathematics in 2011 (EST Marie Curie Fellow, University of Nottingham) and PhD in Pure Mathematics in 2015 (UBB Cluj). I joined the University of Derby (UoD) in 2012 as a Lecturer in Mathematics, becoming Associate Professor in 2019. In the same year I have become Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (FIMA), and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) in 2020.

I am a member of the London Mathematical Society (2020-), International Society for Difference Equations (2017-), American Mathematical Society (2014-), Romanian Mathematical Society (2013-) and the Marie Curie Alumni Network (2011-). I am also active member in the Research Centre in Data Science at the University of Derby.
